Three small bays are linked together with a total length of around 1km. They border Arag\u00f3n Beach to the East and Mazunte to the West. On the Eastern part of the beach, there is a small lagoon during the rainy season. The beaches of San Agustinillo are known for being much calmer than Zipolite, but still good for beginning surfers. Most people visit San Agustinillo to enjoy the beach, take beginner surf lessons, or take a boat tour to observe dolphins and other marine creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just 1km further West is the popular beach town of Mazunte. Mazunte is famous for its sea turtles, and it used to be a center for the commercialization of their meat and eggs. However, as laws came into force to protect them, Mazunte started to focus on their conservation instead. The most famous place in Mazunte is the National Mexican Turtle Center. It holds every species of marine turtle inhabiting the Mexican coast, as well as 6 species of river turtles and 2 types of native land turtles. It is open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. &#8211; 4:30 p.m., and Sundays from 10 to 2:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other than the museum, the beach at Mazunte is also a highlight. There are big waves near the shoreline, but it is still great for swimming as soon as you cross the waves. The sunset is best seen at Punta Cometa, the southernmost point of Oaxaca. It is within walking distance of Mazunte. Am \u00f6stlichen Teil des Strandes gibt es w\u00e4hrend der Regenzeit eine kleine Lagune. Die Str\u00e4nde von San Agustinillo sind daf\u00fcr bekannt, dass sie viel ruhiger sind als Zipolite, aber dennoch gut f\u00fcr Surfanf\u00e4nger geeignet. Als jedoch Gesetze zu ihrem Schutz in Kraft traten, konzentrierte sich Mazunte stattdessen auf ihre Erhaltung. Der ber\u00fchmteste Ort in Mazunte ist das Mexikanische Schildkr\u00f6tenzentrum. Es beherbergt alle Arten von Meeresschildkr\u00f6ten, die an der mexikanischen K\u00fcste leben, sowie 6 Arten von Flussschildkr\u00f6ten und 2 Arten einheimischer Landschildkr\u00f6ten. Es ist es mittwochs bis samstags von 10 bis 16:30 Uhr und sonntags von 10 bis 14:30 Uhr offen.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Neben dem Museum ist auch der Strand von Mazunte ein Highlight. Nahe am Strand gibt es gro\u00dfe Wellen, aber sobald man die Wellen \u00fcberquert, ist es gro\u00dfartig zum Schwimmen. Den Sonnenuntergang kann man am besten in Punta Cometa, dem s\u00fcdlichsten Punkt von Oaxaca, beobachten. Es ist nur wenige Gehminuten von Mazunte entfernt.
